Welcome Back to my Greatest Scorers Series. In this part I will go over my 25-21 Along with giving a Profile and Quick Paragraph about each players.

25. Paul Pierce (01-10)

  • 33.6 IA PTS/100 (30.3 PO)

  • 60.7 IA TS% (59.5 PO)

  • +3.9 rTS%

  • 36.9 3pt% (6.3 3s/100)

  • 80.5 FT% (11.1 FTA/100)

Pierce is one of the 00s icons known for his high post game and his bag. Pierce had a high number of counters and was great at Shooting in the mid range, shooting 40.5% from 10-16 feet on 3.3 Attempts/100. Pierce does suffer from a Playoff drop tho which holds him back from being higher on my list.

24. Larry Bird (80-90)

  • 31.8 IA PTS/100 (28.8 PO)

  • 59.5 IA TS% (58.4 PO)

  • +2.9 rTS%

  • 37.1 3pt% (2.2 3s/100)

  • 88.4 FT% (6.5 FTA/100)

Larry Bird is one of the best shooters of the 80s and is one of the best off ball scorers ever but he doesnt have a huge assortment of moves and counters with the ball. His gravity was very high on and near the 3 point line. The thing that holds Bird back the Longest is his Playoff Drop. He has a huge drop in Volume and still drops in efficiency.

23. Elgin Baylor (59-70)

  • 32.5 IA PTS/100 (27.6 RS PPG 27 PO)

  • 57.8 IA TS% (58.3 PO)

  • +1.1 rTS%

  • 78 FT% (8.9 FTA/100)

Elgin Baylor is interesting to look at. Statistically you wouldn't expect him to be a top 25 scorer, but he has great Longevity, and his Peak (38.3 IA PTS/100 on 59.3 IA TS%) is pretty nice. also you have to look at his bag. Baylor was the first acrobat in NBA History and had good post moves. His rim gravity was very high. He gets held back by his lack of efficiency combined with his relatively low volume.

22. Allen Iverson (99-08)

  • 37.3 IA PTS/100 (38.2 PO)

  • 55.6 IA TS% (52.8 PO)

  • -.8 rTS%

  • 31 3pt% (4.7 3s/100)

  • 79.1 FT% (12 FTA/100)

Allen Iverson has immense volume and terrible efficiency and is an arguable PO Dropper but AI Suffered from terrible spacing and bad offensive help with the 76ers but even with Denver he wasn't super efficient and he had to sacrifice a lot of volume to get to slightly above average Efficiency (+.4 rTS in 07 and +2.6 in 08). The reason he is at 22 despite his low efficiency is his insane gravity combined with his Bag. AI garnered an absurd amount of defensive attention with philly which is why his teammates were able to rise in the PO and Philly he had a Good PO Offense (.6 rORTG from 99-06 in the PO compared to a -1.5 in the RS).

21. Julius Erving (72-84)

  • 32.9 IA PTS/100 (25.3 PPG to 25.5 PO 31.2 PTS/100 to 29.9 PO from 74-84)

  • 61 IA TS% (61.8 PO)

  • +4.1 rTS%

  • 77.6 FT% (6.8 FTA/G)

Julius Erving is another one of the pioneers of The flashy player. He was great at getting to the rim and could score very well at the rim which gave him strong rim gravity but he wasn't a strong jump shooter and was only a great scorer within 15ish feet. He doesn't have a PO Drop from 72-84 but his volume is relatively low for an ATG Scorer. another thing to point out is that he has a very big dropoff from the ABA to the NBA. He averaged 37.4 PTS/100 on +5.2 rTS in 1976 and had 30.6 PTS/100 on +4.2 rTS in 1977. There are reasons that can help explain the volume drop but there's no way to justify a 7 point drop in Points/100 and still have a noticeable drop in Efficiency. He peaked very high in the NBA and was great with a 3pt line in general. He benefitted greatly from having the spacing the 3pt line provided
